Comparison of 10 Instagram profile analyzers with free plans, prices and AIScan AI-readiness scores, October 2026

Updated October 13, 2026. Prices, free-tier limits and AIScan scores were all checked on this date.

The best Instagram profile analyzer depends on the job. If you are vetting an influencer, use HypeAuditor’s free audit: it returns engagement rate, follower count and an Audience Quality Score from 1 to 100, where HypeAuditor treats 60 or higher as good. If you want a free audit of any public profile with the formula shown, use Instapect, which puts average and median engagement side by side. If you only need a fake-follower estimate, Modash checks a sample of 10,000 followers with no sign-up. For your own account, Instagram Insights is free and is the only source of reach and demographics.

Disclosure: AIScan and Instapect are both built by M Asif Rahman. Instapect is included below and is ranked on the same criteria as every other tool. The AIScan readiness scores in this article are reported for information only and were not used to rank the tools.

How these Instagram profile analyzers were tested

Every tool was checked on October 13, 2026. For each one, the vendor’s own feature page and pricing page were fetched on that date, and every price, limit and sample size below comes from those pages (the source is named next to each number). No accounts were created and nothing was bought.

Where a tool publishes a readable report for a public account without sign-up, the same test profile was used: @nike. Two tools exposed one. Social Blade’s @nike page lists followers, following, media count, engagement rate, average likes, average comments, a grade, three rank figures and 14 days of follower and media history. Instapect’s public @nike report (retrieved September 5, 2026) shows 291,296,848 followers, 12 sampled posts (8 Reels, 4 carousels), an engagement rate by followers of 0.06%, 1.7 posts per week and an Instapect Score of 34.

Tools were ranked on five criteria, weighted equally:

  • Depth on public profiles: how much a tool shows about an account you do not own.
  • Free-tier usefulness: what you can do before paying.
  • Method transparency: whether the tool states its formula and sample.
  • Entry price: the lowest published paid plan.
  • Job fit: how clearly the tool serves one of the three jobs people bring to this search (vetting, auditing, tracking your own account).

Each homepage was also scanned with AIScan’s get_grade check on the same date. Those scores appear in the tables but carry no weight in the ranking.

The 10 best Instagram profile analyzers, tested

1. HypeAuditor: best for vetting influencers

HypeAuditor’s free Instagram audit returns three numbers for any public account: engagement rate, follower count and the Audience Quality Score (AQS). According to HypeAuditor’s audit page, AQS runs from 1 to 100, accounts at 60 or above count as good, and scores below 40 “suggest abnormal activities” in follower growth. AQS is built from 15 metrics in 4 groups, including engagement rate, follower and following growth patterns, the share of quality audience and comment authenticity.

What it shows: the free check gives ER, followers and AQS. Clicking Get Report adds the creator’s category, global, country and category rank, average likes and comments, and followers gained or lost over the past 4 weeks.

Free vs paid: the audit and a set of single-purpose calculators (engagement, average views, follower-to-following ratio, earned media value) are free. HypeAuditor’s pricing page, fetched on October 13, 2026, lists no plan names or prices, so paid access goes through a demo request.

FeatureValue (checked Oct 13, 2026)
Best forVetting influencer authenticity before hiring
Free planFree audit (ER, follower count, AQS) + free calculators

Login requiredNo for initial audit; account to view full report

2. Instapect: best free audit of any public profile

Instapect audits any public Instagram profile without requiring an Instagram login. The free summary shows follower and following counts, post count, engagement rate by followers, posting cadence and the 12 most recent posts with like and comment counts.

Two things separate Instapect from other free checkers. First, it shows its working: the report explains how engagement rate was calculated, names the 12-post sample and reports both average and median engagement. That makes it easy to spot an account whose numbers are driven by a single viral Reel rather than consistent reach. Second, Instapect runs an MCP server, so AI assistants such as Claude can read a profile audit directly.

What it shows: the free summary displays identity, cadence, recent posts and an engagement breakdown. Signing up for a free account unlocks 2 detailed scans that add an Instapect Score (0-100), an audit checklist across identity, engagement, cadence and content mix, and specific next steps.

Free vs paid: summary audits are free with no login. Two detailed scans are free on registration. Single detailed reports cost $5, and the Pro plan is $19 per month for 50 detailed reports a month (unused scans do not roll over) plus workspace tools.

3. Modash: best free fake-follower check

Modash’s free fake follower checker estimates what fraction of an Instagram creator’s audience is real. Modash states on its tool page that it analyzes a sample of 10,000 followers, looking at follower-to-following ratios, avatar presence, bio length and username patterns. It treats 25% or more fake followers as a warning sign.

What it shows: the free tool returns the fake follower percentage, the creator’s engagement rate, a benchmark engagement rate for creators of the same size and the top three countries where followers live. Modash does not show post history or cadence in the free check.

Free vs paid: the fake-follower check, an engagement rate calculator and a profile search tool are free without sign-up. Paid plans start at $199 per month (billed annually at $2,388/year) for the Essentials tier, which searches 350M+ creator profiles across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

FeatureValue (checked Oct 13, 2026)

4. Instagram Insights: best for your own account

Instagram Insights is the native analytics dashboard built into the Instagram app. It is available to any Professional account (Creator or Business) for free, with no third-party tool required.

Insights is the only tool that sees private data: true reach (unique accounts that saw a post), impressions (total views), saves, shares, Story exits and audience demographics (age ranges, gender, top cities and countries, most active hours). Every third-party tool in this guide is limited to public data or relies on an account owner connecting via the Instagram Graph API to read these same numbers.

Where it falls short: Insights only works for accounts you own or manage. You cannot use it to research competitors, vet influencers or audit an account before outreach. Its data window in the mobile app is limited to 90 days.

5. Inflact: best for anonymous post and hashtag stats

Inflact’s Profile Analyzer is a free web tool that reads public Instagram data without a login. Inflact reports an activity score (based on posts per day), an engagement rate, average posting cadence (e.g. “1.4 posts per day”), most popular posting times, top hashtags used and the account’s top-liked and top-commented posts from the recent feed.

What it shows: the profile view packs more single-screen data than most free tools: user activity, posting frequency, engagement rate, average likes and comments, upload schedule heat map and top hashtags.

Free vs paid: Inflact allows 1 free search per day without registration. A registered free account allows a small number of daily checks. Paid plans start at €7.80 per month for the Basic plan (or $54/month for the full automation suite).

6. Social Blade: best for follower history

Social Blade is the web’s oldest public social media stats tracker. Enter any public Instagram handle and Social Blade returns daily follower gains and losses, media upload counts, an engagement rate and a Social Blade Rank based on follower count.

What it shows: for @nike, Social Blade shows 14 days of historical data for free: followers gained or lost each day, media count changes, weekly averages and an estimated monthly follower run-rate. It is the fastest way to spot an account that gained 50,000 followers on a single Tuesday with no viral post to explain it.

Free vs paid: the entire public tracker is free and ad-supported. Paid tiers start at $5 per month billed yearly ($3.99/month for Bronze), which removes ads and extends historical charts from 30 days to 1 year.

FeatureValue (checked Oct 13, 2026)

7. Not Just Analytics: best for regular engagement checks

Not Just Analytics is an Italian analytics platform built specifically for Instagram creators, agencies and small businesses. Its free tool analyzes public profiles and displays engagement rate, follower growth over the last 30 days, average likes and comments per post and a hashtag analysis.

What it shows: Not Just Analytics plots follower growth as a curve, highlights days with abnormal follower jumps and calculates whether an engagement rate is above or below average for accounts in the same follower bracket.

Free vs paid: the free tier allows 10 profile analyses per month after creating an account. Paid plans start at €15.83 per month (billed annually, or €19/month billed monthly) for the Standard plan, which includes daily tracking for 5 profiles and competitor benchmarking.

8. Metricool: best free plan for your own account plus competitors

Metricool is a social media management and analytics platform. Its free tier is one of the most generous in the industry: 1 brand, 1 connected Instagram account, 30 days of historical data and the ability to track up to 5 competitors.

What it shows: for your own account, Metricool connects via the official Instagram Graph API to display reach, impressions, follower growth, Story metrics, Reel completion rates and best times to post based on your actual audience. For competitors, it tracks follower growth, posting frequency and top-performing posts using public data.

Free vs paid: the free plan has no time limit. Paid plans start from $20 per month (or $18 per month billed annually) for the Starter plan, which expands history from 30 days to unlimited, adds team members and unlocks lookback data.

What a profile analyzer can and cannot see

Every profile analyzer relies on one of two data sources: public scraping or the official Instagram Graph API. Knowing the difference prevents paying for data a tool cannot possibly deliver.

What public profile analyzers CAN see:

  • Follower count, following count and total post count.
  • Bio text, website link, category and verification badge.
  • Recent post media (images, Reel covers, captions, timestamps).
  • Visible like counts and comment counts on recent posts (unless hidden by the user).
  • Public comments on recent posts.
  • Historical follower snapshots (if the tool has previously indexed the account).

What public profile analyzers CANNOT see:

  • Reach and impressions: unique accounts reached and total views exist only inside Instagram’s private servers.
  • Saves and shares: like counts are public; how many people saved or DM’d a post is private.
  • Story views and Story metrics: expire after 24 hours and are never public.
  • Audience demographics: age, gender and city breakdowns are private to the account owner.
  • Accounts that hide like counts: if an account has enabled “Hide like and view counts”, public tools can only read comment counts.
  • Private accounts: no public tool can inspect a private account without credentials.

How to analyze an Instagram profile yourself in 5 steps

If you do not want to use a third-party tool, you can evaluate any public Instagram profile manually with this 5-step method:

  1. Calculate the engagement rate by followers: pick the 10 most recent posts (excluding pinned posts). Add up the total likes and comments across those 10 posts, divide by 10 to get the average interactions per post, then divide by the follower count and multiply by 100. Or use the Instapect engagement rate calculator, and compare against what counts as a good Instagram engagement rate.
  2. Check median vs average: if 9 posts have 200 likes and 1 Reel has 40,000 likes, the average is ~4,180 but the median is 200. A creator whose average is driven by one outlier post will not deliver consistent results for a brand sponsorship.
  3. Inspect the comment-to-like ratio: a healthy account has comments that match its likes in volume and substance. Accounts with thousands of likes but only 3 generic comments (“🔥🔥🔥”, “Nice!”) often indicate purchased likes. See Instapect's guide to spotting fake Instagram followers.
  4. Review posting cadence: check the timestamps on the last 10 posts. Consistent posting (e.g. 3-5 times per week) signals an active creator. Large gaps followed by bursts of daily posts usually point to erratic manual posting rather than a sustained content strategy.
  5. Evaluate follower-to-following ratio: accounts that follow 7,000 accounts but have 4,000 followers are usually using the follow-unfollow tactic. Established creators almost always have significantly more followers than following.

AI readiness of Instagram analytics tools

AIScan AI-readiness score of 10 Instagram analytics tools, October 13, 2026

Reminder: AIScan and Instapect share an owner, which is why this table carries no weight in the ranking above.

What separates the scores. AIScan’s fix lists for three tools show the concrete differences:

  • Metricool (83) failed one check: a request for markdown (Accept: text/markdown) returned HTML. Everything else, including robots.txt, sitemap and structured data, passed.
  • HypeAuditor (41) has no /llms.txt (HTTP 404), returns HTML when asked for markdown, names 0 AI bots in its robots.txt, and publishes no API catalog, OpenAPI file or OAuth discovery metadata. An AI agent can read its pages but has no machine-readable map of what the product does.
  • Social Blade (8) returned HTTP 403 to AIScan’s requests for robots.txt, /llms.txt and the markdown version of the homepage. The HTML that did come back had 3 words of server-rendered text, no H1 and no H2. In practice, an AI agent that does not run a full browser sees almost nothing.

Instapect passed every check AIScan runs, including /llms.txt and markdown pages. It also runs an MCP server, which is how an assistant like Claude can read an Instapect report directly. For a buyer, the practical point is simple: an analyzer with a higher score is easier for your AI assistant to read, cite and connect to. You can scan any site free with AIScan to see its own result. The two checks that split these tools most often, llms.txt (C1) and markdown for agents (C2), are explained in the AIScan content checks docs.

How to choose an Instagram profile analyzer

  • Vetting an influencer before paying them? Start with HypeAuditor’s free audit, then cross-check with Modash’s fake-follower check.
  • Auditing any public profile for free, with the formula shown? Use Instapect.
  • Analyzing your own brand’s performance on a budget? Use Metricool’s free plan (1 brand, 5 competitors).
  • Need deep historical follower trends without sign-up? Use Social Blade.
  • Need agency-grade multi-brand competitive benchmarking? Use Socialinsider.
  • Need client-ready PDF reports across multiple social platforms? Use Iconosquare.

Which Instagram profile analyzer to start with

For vetting influencers, start with HypeAuditor. For tracking your own account and up to 5 competitors on a free tier, Metricool is the standout. For a free public audit with the method shown, Instapect fits. For your own reach and audience, nothing replaces Instagram Insights. Start with the free tier that matches your job, run one account you know well to check the numbers, and only pay once a free limit actually gets in your way. To see what a public audit looks like, run a handle through Instapect or read the Instapect guide to free Instagram analytics tools.

Next step: check your own site the same way these tools were checked. Run npx aiscan-cli yoursite.com or paste your domain at aiscan.site (free, no account), review the llms.txt and markdown checks, and browse more fix guides in the AIScan guides hub.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Instagram profile analyzer?

It depends on the job. HypeAuditor’s free audit is the strongest first check for vetting an influencer, because it adds an Audience Quality Score (AQS) that spots unnatural follower patterns. Instapect is the best choice for a free, transparent audit of any public profile: it shows the engagement formula, reports both average and median engagement, and works with no login. For your own account, Instagram Insights is free and is the only tool that sees private reach and audience demographics.

Is there a free Instagram profile analyzer with no login?

Yes. Instapect’s profile summary, Inflact’s Profile Analyzer, Modash’s fake follower checker and Social Blade all work on any public profile with no login. Instapect shows 12 recent posts and engagement breakdown, Inflact shows hashtag and cadence data (1 free search/day), Modash checks fake followers on a 10,000-follower sample, and Social Blade shows follower history.

Can an Instagram analyzer see another account’s reach or demographics?

No. Reach, impressions, saves, Story views and audience demographics are visible only to the account owner in Instagram Insights or through a connected API token. Any tool claiming to show another account’s reach or audience location without account connection is showing an estimate based on a sample of public followers or past engagements, not true server data.

Why do two Instagram analyzers show different engagement rates for the same account?

They divide by different things. HypeAuditor divides by views when an account has enough recent Reels, while Social Blade and most basic calculators divide total interactions by follower count. Instapect calculates engagement by followers and reports both the average and the median, so you can see if one viral post distorted the number. Always check what the denominator is before comparing two engagement rates.

The analyzer says the account has no data. What went wrong?

The account is usually private, was renamed, or hides like counts on every post. Public-data tools need a public profile to read media. If an account hides like counts, tools can only see comment counts, which makes the engagement rate look artificially low. If an account changed its username recently, try searching the previous handle.

The follower count in the tool does not match Instagram. Which one is right?

Instagram’s own count is current; third-party tools read a snapshot that can be hours or days old. Check the retrieval date on the report. For large accounts that gain thousands of followers daily, third-party snapshots will always trail Instagram’s live number slightly.

How do I check if an Instagram account has fake followers?

Run it through Modash’s free checker, which samples 10,000 followers, or HypeAuditor’s free audit, where an Audience Quality Score below 40 signals abnormal follower growth. You can also spot fake followers yourself on Social Blade: flat lines followed by vertical spikes of thousands of followers on a single day with no viral content usually mean purchased followers.

Do I need a paid Instagram analytics tool?

Most single accounts do not. Instagram Insights covers your own numbers free, and the free tiers listed here cover occasional audits of competitors or partners. You only need a paid tool when you manage multiple client brands, need automated PDF reports, want more than 30-90 days of historical data, or need to search millions of creators by audience filters.

Can ChatGPT or Claude analyze an Instagram profile?

Not on their own, because they cannot log in to Instagram. They can read a public audit report or data you paste in. Tools that expose an MCP server or structured markdown (like Instapect) can be read directly by Claude or ChatGPT without copy-pasting.
